Assign personas for realistic practice
Tell Copilot who to “be” so it answers like a customer, mentor, or specialist—ideal for scenario practice and soft-skill drills.
Best-fit scenarios
- You’re rehearsing customer conversations or escalation paths.
- You need mentoring-style explanations customised to your skill level.
- You’re preparing for behavioural or troubleshooting interviews.
Pattern to follow
- Assign the role clearly (“Act as a senior network engineer…”).
- Describe the scenario and what you need from the persona.
- Add interaction cues (“Ask me clarifying questions before recommending a fix.”).
Sample role prompts
- “Act as a frustrated end user whose laptop camera stopped working. Describe the symptoms so I can practise gathering details.”
- “Be a cybersecurity mentor. Coach me through creating a phishing-awareness briefing for remote staff.”
- “Role-play as an interviewer asking me three troubleshooting questions about wireless networking.”
Workshop: run the scenario
- Choose a role you want Copilot to play (customer, mentor, manager).
- Write a prompt that sets the persona, scenario, and interaction goals.
- Carry out the chat for a few turns, steering Copilot if it drifts off role.
- Capture useful dialogue or feedback for your learning log in module 1.5.
